Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made from iron and feature a distinctive blue color, achieved through heating during production. When exposed to humid air, Sweet Iron naturally develops an oxidized surface, gradually changing the color of the bit from blue to silver or brown-grey. This oxidation is a characteristic feature of Sweet Iron bits.

Sweet Iron mouthpieces are available in two thicknesses, indicated by a number in the product name. The 12 mm version is found in pony bits and bradoons, offering more space in the mouth. The 16 mm version is our standard thickness and is used in both regular bits and bradoons, making it suitable for a wide range of horses.

If a Sweet Iron bit is left unused for a period, an orange-brown layer of rust may form on the mouthpiece. This can be easily removed by wiping the bit with a damp cloth and does not affect its functionality.

Sweet Iron bits are suitable for all horses and come in a wide variety of mouthpieces, each designed for specific purposes.

Every horse is different, and selecting the right bit plays a key role in comfort, communication, and performance. A properly fitted bit prevents pressure points, slipping, and discomfort—helping your horse stay soft, responsive, and confident in the contact.

Trust Pony Collection

Specially developed for ponies, the TRUST Pony collection offers anatomically shaped bits that provide an optimal fit for the smaller pony mouth. Created in collaboration with pony riders, this series features thinner mouthpieces, refined cheekpieces, and smaller sizing for improved comfort and precise communication. The bits are available in 9.5 cm, 10.5 cm, and 11.5 cm, making them ideal for a wide range of ponies.

Pelham and Baby Pelham

The Pelham is a bit known for its combined leverage, applying pressure to both the poll, just behind the ears, and the chin. It can be used with one or two reins, with the one-rein option requiring a connection between the larger and lower loose rings, using a Pelham strap. The leverage effect increases with the placement of the reins, making the impact stronger. The bit comes with a curb chain that must be properly fitted for optimal function.

The Baby Pelham is a milder version of the standard Pelham, distinguished by shorter shanks, resulting in less leverage and a gentler effect. Like the regular Pelham, it can be ridden with one or two reins, with the same requirement for connecting the rings with a Pelham strap when using one rein.

Both types of Pelham should only be used by professional riders or under the supervision of a trainer. While the bit can be effective when used correctly, improper use can cause harm to the horse, making knowledge of its function and proper fitting essential.

Elliptical / Double-Jointed

A double-jointed bit consists of three parts, with the central link resting on the tongue. This design applies more pressure to the tongue than a single-jointed bit, but it also distributes pressure more evenly across the bars and corners of the mouth.

When using a double-jointed bit, choosing the correct size is essential. If the bit is too large, the joints may reach the corners of the mouth and cause irritation or small wounds.
