Leather
The leather bits from the TRUST collection are a standout choice for horses with sensitive mouths. Hand-stitched around a reinforced nylon core, these bits are tanned without the use of chemicals, ensuring a natural, safe option for your horse. The unique round construction, combined with the softness that saliva brings, allows the leather mouthpiece to form to your horse’s mouth, creating a comfortable and flexible fit. This makes them especially popular with mares, who often find the taste of the leather particularly appealing and accept the bit with ease.
Care Advice: To keep the leather supple and in top condition, apply edible vegetable oil regularly. This helps maintain the softness and flexibility of the mouthpiece over time.
Note: The stitches should always point to the outside whilst using the bit. So not towards the tongue.
Every horse is different, and selecting the right bit plays a key role in comfort, communication, and performance. A properly fitted bit prevents pressure points, slipping, and discomfort—helping your horse stay soft, responsive, and confident in the contact.

Hackamore and Hackamore Combi
The Hackamore Combi is a combination of a Hackamore and a bit, designed to distribute pressure across both the mouth and the nose. The leverage effect applies pressure to the nose, lower jaw, and mouth, with the intensity increasing as the leverage increases. Both the short and long versions feature an adjustable screw above the mouthpiece. Lowering the screw increases pressure on the nose, allowing for more control over the horse.
The short version of the Hackamore Combi has shorter shanks, resulting in a milder impact compared to the long version. The long version, with its longer shanks, applies a stronger leverage effect, increasing pressure on the nose, jaw, and mouth.
The Hackamore without bit is used for bitless riding, has a leverage effect, and mainly puts pressure on the nose and lower jaw. When rein pressure is increased, the space between the nose and curb strap becomes smaller, resulting in more pressure on the nose. The shanks create a leverage effect, and the greater the leverage effect, the bigger the impact.
It’s crucial to properly adjust the curb strap (not too loose, not too tight) to ensure that the nosepiece stays securely in place. The cheekpiece attaches to the rectangular part, ensuring stability during use.
Both the Hackamore and Hackamore Combi should only be used by professional riders. If not fitted correctly, these bits can cause significant harm to the horse, so proper fitting and adjustment are absolutely essential for safe use.
