Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made from iron and feature a distinctive blue color, achieved through heating during production. When exposed to humid air, Sweet Iron naturally develops an oxidized surface, gradually changing the color of the bit from blue to silver or brown-grey. This oxidation is a characteristic feature of Sweet Iron bits.
Sweet Iron mouthpieces are available in two thicknesses, indicated by a number in the product name. The 12 mm version is found in pony bits and bradoons, offering more space in the mouth. The 16 mm version is our standard thickness and is used in both regular bits and bradoons, making it suitable for a wide range of horses.
If a Sweet Iron bit is left unused for a period, an orange-brown layer of rust may form on the mouthpiece. This can be easily removed by wiping the bit with a damp cloth and does not affect its functionality.
Sweet Iron bits are suitable for all horses and come in a wide variety of mouthpieces, each designed for specific purposes.
Every horse is different, and selecting the right bit plays a key role in comfort, communication, and performance. A properly fitted bit prevents pressure points, slipping, and discomfort—helping your horse stay soft, responsive, and confident in the contact.

Beval
The Beval is a loose ring cheekpiece designed with two small half rings on the inside. This setup allows for a mild leverage effect and offers multiple rein placements. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the top half ring, while the reins can be connected either to the main ring or the lower half ring, depending on the desired effect. The Beval can be used with one or two reins.
This cheekpiece offers a slightly more direct action than a regular loose ring, while still maintaining freedom of movement in the mouth.
Single-Jointed Mouthpiece
The single-jointed mouthpiece has one hinge point, offering a clear and direct connection with reduced tongue pressure compared to double-jointed bits. It mainly acts on the bars and edges of the tongue. A trusted and timeless choice for riders looking for a simple, effective bit for everyday use.
Slow Twist
The Slow Twist mouthpiece is single-jointed and features a subtle twist in the metal on both sides. This design creates sharper edges, resulting in a stronger action on the bars compared to a standard single-jointed bit.
Due to its intensity, this is not a bit we actively recommend. However, we offer it because we understand that there are combinations where it may be effective. It is less suitable for sensitive horses and should be used only by professionals.
