The right bit can make a noticeable difference to the way a horse feels and performs. It may help encourage greater relaxation and freedom of movement in the dressage arena, or allow a horse to move more freely through its body over a fence. Changes such as tension, resistance or headshaking can also be a reason to reassess the bit. As horses change over time, their needs can change too, meaning the bit that works well today may not always be the right choice further down the line. Every horse is different, which is why we believe in an individual approach rather than a one-bit-fits-all solution. During a bit fitting, we assess the horse’s anatomy, mouth, how the bit sits and, most importantly, how the horse moves and responds under saddle. From there, we help you find a bit that is suited to your horse and supports a clear, harmonious connection between horse and rider.

Contact us for an appointment, we can come to you, or you can come to us. If issues mainly occur at competitions, we’re also happy to fit at training shows training competitions.

The Fitting
We start by listening to you and taking a closer look at your horse’s mouth and current tack. From there, we try different options while you ride to find what feels best for both you and your horse.

You ride
A bit fitting shows us what works on the day, but things can feel different over time. Try the bit for a week and let us know how it feels. If needed, we can fine-tune from there.
