The right bit can make a noticeable difference to the way a horse feels and performs. It may help encourage greater relaxation and freedom of movement in the dressage arena, or allow a horse to move more freely through its body over a fence. Changes such as tension, resistance or headshaking can also be a reason to reassess the bit. As horses change over time, their needs can change too, meaning the bit that works well today may not always be the right choice further down the line.
